“When I couldn’t get voted back on, it was a blow,” Hodge says.

“It wasn’t good enough to just be told your application wasn’t successful, you want to know why.” Still, he maintains that the site, which has 750,000 members and accepts fewer than 15 percent of applicants, is as fair as they come.

Beautiful People, which first launched in 2002, caused a stir last year when members booted 43-year-old Hodge from the site he created — for not being attractive enough.

In June 2011, Beautiful was attacked by a virus which allowed users to join without going through the mandatory 48 hour voting process.

Reportedly 30,000 people who were mistakenly let into the dating community were kicked off of the website as a result.

Fellas who lack self-esteem — marked by poor posture and an “effeminate” demeanor — topped the women’s turn-off list.

Men, however, seemed to prefer gals who walk a fine line between fit and curvy — but definitely not skinny or fat.

Users on the controversial dating website, which is said to have turned away some 8.5 million would-be members, have revealed their list of “ugly” features preventing folks from being accepted by their supremely sexy service.

The poll includes responses from 3,000 Beautiful members, who point out bad skin, poor grooming and disproportionate facial features as some of their top reasons for rejection.

As you could probably guess, you need to get enough Beautifuls, or at least Hmmm OKs, to outweigh any negative votes. I remembered one of my online dating-savvy friends extolling the importance of varied photos a few months ago: "You want some of your face, you want some of your body, you want some being goofy, you want some smiling normally, you want at least three different hairstyles," she said, ticking off her fingers.

I've heard my friends strategize and occasionally agonize about picking the right photos for their dating profiles. At the time, I think I was like, "Friend, that is some serious Barbie overkill," but, you know. If you can't already tell, my self-esteem requires constant coddling.

I mean, I haven't been single since my freshman year of college, and back then I met all my dudes at frat parties and favored a busted-up Black Berry Curve. I threw my scale out over a year ago, so it's entirely possible that I gave more of a goal weight.
