Persona is a bog-standard JRPG with a signature mechanic that very few other games ape and do well with.

Even that mechanic is not really core to Persona - and wasn't really present in Persona/Persona2.

If you want an experience like Persona, really your best bet is to probably just do what you need to do to play the other Persona games. P4 Golden on the Vita is probably the definitive version, but it was originally a PS2 game.

Similarly, Persona 3 Portable is the definitive version of P3 - released only for the PSP.

At any rate, Visual Novels are more like text adventure/CYOA games, and are typically pornographic - though I doubt you'll find any of THOSE on the PS4.

They are a wholly different experience from a Persona game.

Steins; Gate 0 fits the bill but I'd highly recommend not playing it until you play the first one. My advice would be pick up a used PS TV from Gamestop for .99 and play P4G on it.

If you're looking for an experience like Persona, then you might want to stay away from visual novels.

I recently finished Persona 5 and really liked the visual novel -ish style it had sometimes. 999:9 hours, nine persons, nine doors is the first one and virtues last reward is the second. All of them are pretty fantastic in their own ways.

Even though I liked the dungeon parts I think that the social part was my favorite, so I'm looking for something similar. No dating simulations, but lots of puzzles, r well written stories and high-quality and almost full English voice acting which for visual novels is a huge bit of unusualness.
